Ingredients
Hibiscus Juice Ingredients
3cupswater
½cupdried hibiscus flowers
½cupsugaror ⅔ cup for a sweeter drink
Margarita Ingredients
6ounces¾ cup fresh lime juice(about 6 limes)
8ounces1 cup silver tequila
2cupshibiscus juice
Ice
Sugar or salt for the rimOptional
Lime wedges for garnishOptional
Instructions
Make Hibiscus Juice
Boil water in a large pot.
Reduce heat to low and add the dried hibiscus flowers.
Simmer for about 7 minutes or until the water has a dark ruby red color.
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the flowers.
Stir in the sugar until dissolved.
Let the hibiscus juice cool.
Make Margaritas
Rim the glasses with sugar or salt (Optional).
Fill the glasses with ice.
Combine lime juice, tequila, and hibiscus tea in a different glass. Shake/mix.
Pour the margaritas into your glasses. Garnish with lime wedges and enjoy!
Notes
1 margarita - use 1.5 oz (3 tablespoons) fresh lime juice (from 1.5 lime), 2 ounces (¼ cup) silver tequila, ½ cup of hibiscus juice. Double the recipe for a pitcher of margaritasThe leftover hibiscus juice can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week and used in other cocktails or mocktails.
